It took a couple of months and a lot of learning and coordination, but we received our first big book shipment from the US. Ordered through our US wholesaler Ingram, and sent to our shipping friends at MEEST, the books were received in New Jersey and placed on a boat that traveled across the ocean to finally land in a warehouse in Lviv. My friend Wendy drove me out to the warehouse to help me transfer the books back to my apartment. From here, they are being distributed to schools and libraries across Ukraine.
As a former children’s librarian and supporter of booksellers, I really enjoyed curating this collection of materials, picking some of my favorite books and authors, choosing titles that I knew would appeal in terms of story, but also visually.
